The objective of the project is to increase the capacity of the UNECE member States and Contracting Parties to the UN inland transport legal instruments on integrated solutions for the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the inland transport sector in the UNECE region. This will be done through supporting implementation of the (ITC) Strategy on Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Inland Transport (“ITC Strategy"). The Strategy provides integrated solutions for the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the inland transport sector with an aspirational goal of net zero GHG emissions from inland transport by 2050. The project will focus on driving the transition towards achieving the vision, mission, and strategic objectives aimed at curbing GHG emissions from inland transport and enable accelerated climate action by ITC and its subsidiary bodies. The project will promote the decarbonization of inland transport by increasing knowledge and capacity for the implementation of initial climate actions and enhanced policy dialogues while strengthening synergies and linkages with other initiatives and fora. The project will foster increased knowledge and understanding of initial actions for consideration by ITC and its subsidiary bodies, while providing comprehensive support to the UNECE member States and Contracting Parties to the UN inland transport legal instruments on ensuring compatibility between different actions on inland transport
