The Ministry for Communities, Territories Development and Infrastructure of Ukraine elaborated a draft National Framework for Programmes for the Integrated Rehabilitation of Settlements and Territories which is expected to be applied by the government and with the support of international partners providing expertise, tools, and best practices. In 2022, to test the approach proposed in the draft National Framework, UNECE supported Ukraine with pilot projects in two cities, Kharkiv and Mykolaiv by developing urban master plans which would also offer a blueprint for other cities in Ukraine. The objective of the proposed project is to strengthen national, regional and local capacities to plan sustainable urban development solutions following a balanced, evidence-based approach. The project will provide policy advice to the government of Ukraine on the revision of its draft Framework for Programmes for the Integrated Rehabilitation of Settlements and Territories as well as prepare for implementation of the master plans’ visions in the pilot cities of Kharkiv and Mykolaiv.
